In 1958, an enterprising businessman called Jesús Alonso Fernández created the canning company under his own name, which in 1974 became the limited company Jesús Alonso, S. A. (Jealsa). He is currently the Chairman of its Board of Directors.
In 1991, the company purchased a second processing plant. The main plant houses the tuna canning process, with a production capacity of 400 t per day and considered by experts as one of the most modern in the world. The second plant prepares all the other products in its extensive range.
In 1987, encouraged by its eagerness to innovate, Jealsa was the first Spanish canning company to introduce the easy-opening format for cans. This initiative became a standard for the canning sector in Spain.
In 1998, Jealsa looked to inform all consumers of the main benefits of olive oil to health by including olive oil in its entire range of products.
In the year 2000, Mare Aperto was constituted as a result of a joint venture with Star in Italy.
Another added advantage is the incorporation of aluminium cans for all its products except for tuna, offering greater safety and easier handling and opening.
All of these initiatives have made Jealsa Rianxeira a firm point of reference in its sector and an example of success in the European canning sector.
Location
Located in A Coruña in the municipality of Boiro, a privileged spot on the Galician Arousa estuary, Jealsa Rianxeira S. A. is distributed around the world and in any type of activity related to the fishing sector.
